What is needed to make candles?
Making candles at home is not a difficult task, although it does require care. What is needed to make candles? Read on - we have prepared a list of essential products for you.
1. wax
The basic ingredient of any candle is wax. One of the substances commonly used is paraffin. However, this is not a good solution. Paraffin emits benzene during the smoking process. It is toxic and very harmful to health. A better solution is natural vegetable wax. Coconut-morel wax, for example, is a hit. There are no harmful or hazardous substances in it. You will only find a trace, edible amount of paraffin in the formula, which stabilises the product.
Coconut-morel wax is readily used even by novice crafters. It is easy to work with. In our e-shop you will find a product of the CALWAX brand. Importantly, you don't have to keep an eye on pouring temperatures or adding oils - it is a so-called single pour wax. Its additional advantage is its excellent adhesion to the pot and its creamy consistency.
2. fragrance oils
Want your candle to smell great? Enrich its recipe with fragrance oil. Make sure the product is safe and intended for candle making. You'll find a wide selection of fragrances from the Lilly's Fragrances range in our e-shop. We ship them in eco-friendly glass bottles. Importantly, our oils are not tested on animals!
3. other accessories
Although wax and fragrance oil are the absolute basics, you also need to remember to buy additional accessories. What else do you need for candle making? Start by preparing the glass for pouring the candles. It must be heat-resistant. Keep in mind that the vessel must not be chipped or cracked. It's not just about the visual aspect - any crack can be dangerous when in contact with hot wax.
Among the accessories necessary for home candle making we can also include a wick. Wooden wicks look good, although cotton wicks will work just as well. You will also need a container for melting the wax. A metal one works best.
Making candles yourself at home is an interesting way to spend your free time creatively. It is a chance to create unique, unrepeatable compositions. Are you looking for semi-finished products for your candle production? Then be sure to have a look at our e-shop assortment!
