If you are looking for an alternative to the products available on shop shelves, consider making your own candles at home. This solution has plenty of advantages - above all, you have the freedom when it comes to their form and scent. How do you make a scented candle? Read on - we have prepared simple step-by-step instructions for you!<\/span><\/p>\n

Why make your own scented candles?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Nowadays, scented candles are available almost everywhere. However, there is no denying that many of them - especially the popular paraffin versions - emit, among other things, benzene when they smoke. This is a toxic and very harmful substance that is recognised as a carcinogen. This is why the best solution is to prepare this decoration yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Home-made scented candles give you the opportunity to control the ingredients you use. So you can choose natural waxes and fragrance oils<\/span> dedicated to candle making, allowing you to avoid harmful and unnecessary substances in your candles. You will also be assured that with the right choice of oil, wicks and vessel your candle will be safe.<\/span> Importantly, you can create any fragrance composition you like, customising the candle to your preferences. Each candle you make will be unique and unrepeatable. Don't be afraid to experiment!<\/span><\/p>\n

A candle that you make with your own hands can also be a fantastic gift idea. DIY gifts are priceless - they show the recipient how important they are to you. There's also no denying that making candles yourself is an activity that will undoubtedly help you relax and express your creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is needed to make candles yourself?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Making scented candles yourself requires a certain amount of knowledge and care. So before you get started, be sure to read the instructions that come with the products you want to make your product with. What do you need to make a scented candle? The list is not long and includes such semi-finished products as:<\/span><\/p>\n

-<\/span> wax<\/b> - Trust natural plant-based waxes. An excellent choice is coconut-morel wax. You will find it in our range. There are no harmful substances in the product. <\/span>Coconut-Morel wax contains only a trace of edible paraffin added for stabilisation. This is known as the Food Grade, or food grade concentration. You will not find any hazardous substances in the safety data sheet for coconut-morel wax.<\/span> It is easy to work with, which means it can be handled by people who are new to handicrafts. <\/span>It is a so-called single pour wax, so its great advantage is that you don't have to watch the temperatures of adding oils and pouring;<\/span><\/p>\n

-<\/span> fragrance oils<\/b> - The choice of fragrances is huge. Opt for your favourite scent, while taking care to choose the <\/span>a safe, candle-dedicated product that smells good and promotes well-being<\/span>;<\/span><\/p>\n

-<\/span> wick<\/b> - You have complete freedom in this area. Both cotton and wooden wicks are available;<\/span><\/p>\n

-<\/span> glass for pouring candles<\/b> - <\/span>Make sure it is dedicated to this purpose. It must be resistant to high temperatures. It must also not react with the wax and fragrance oil mixture;<\/span><\/p>\n

- <\/span>metal vessel<\/b> - will be needed to dissolve the wax<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to make a scented candle step by step?<\/b><\/h2>\n

You already know what you need for home candle making. How do you make a scented candle yourself? Follow these simple instructions:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prepare the vessel for the candle<\/span>. You can heat them gently before pouring the wax to avoid so-called 'wet spots', frosting or uneven surfaces after setting. In the case of the Coconut-Apricot Ceda Serica wax by Calwax, there is no frosting. If you are using soy wax, heating the vessel can eliminate the above problems after pouring the candles. <\/span>Place the wick in the vessel and hold it in place, e.g. with sticks resting against the rim of the vessel. Make sure the wick is straight and not touching the walls.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. If you use the coconut-morel wax we recommend, heat it to the temperature recommended by the manufacturer, which is around 83-87\u2103. However, remember to control the temperature to avoid overheating.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Measure out the amount of fragrance oil needed and pour it into the wax. If you are using oils from our e-shop and coconut-morel wax for this, a concentration of 6-7% is often sufficient. Remember to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. After oil application <\/span>Scent into the coconut-morel wax mix the whole thing for 30 seconds. Remember that soy waxes require a longer mixing time - about 2 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Pour the wax and oil into the candle container. Try not to damage the wick.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Leave the candle for a few hours and let it cool down.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Trim the wick to <\/span>appropriate length. Wood wicks need to be trimmed to around 2-5 mm, while cotton wicks need to be trimmed to around 5 mm. A wick that is cut too short can cause the fire to go out, as the wick will not have time to drain the melted wax from the surface of the candle. Too long, on the other hand, can cause the candle to burn too strongly, leading to overheating of the vessel and subsequent breakage and risk of fire.<\/span> Done!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
